Faux cement mosaic tiles
Today's encaustic tiles are a very popular type of tile thanks to their vintage look, whose origin dates back to the 19th century. Its use became popular during the Victorian era. Today, thanks to the variety of designs and features of porcelain stoneware, encaustic tiles are expanding their possibilities.
It is a versatile material that can be used both as flooring and cladding. Encaustic floors stand out for their dynamism and their ability to combine with other porcelain tile looks, such as those that mimic cement or wood. The use of encaustic tiles is also common as wall cladding in both residential and contract projects, thanks to their decorative potential.
Porcelain tile provides the unmistakable look of encaustic tiles while amplifying their technical performance. In this sense, it is a much more resistant, long-lasting and versatile material. So much so that it can be installed both indoors and in patios and terraces, either as paving or cladding.
Traditional patterns give way to new graphics with geometric shapes that propose innovative optical effects and more daring color combinations. There are even pieces that mix the faux cement pattern with other textures such as terrazzo or terracotta.
The origin of antique encaustic tiles can be traced back to the south of France in the middle of the 19th century. The original material was composed of cement and pigment that is consolidated through the use of a hydraulic press. Hence it is called by other names such as encaustic cement tile or faux cement mosaic tile.
Encaustic look porcelain tiles are one of the most recurrent tiles for the decoration of bathrooms and, specially, kitchens. The use of this material as kitchen backsplash is highly demanded, as it provides a differentiating touch. Design and functionality come together in a tile that, thanks to the advantages of porcelain, is more durable, more hygienic and easier to clean than ever before.
We show you a selection of the most popular encaustic floor tiles for kitchens, bathrooms or living rooms. A wide variety of designs and formats for those projects that bet on the decorative potential of porcelain stoneware.
